Fax numbers for French judicial courts: every registry
In 2020 the judicial court (tribunal judiciaire) replaced the former high court and district court. Its registry receives letters from parties in ongoing proceedings. The numbers below are those published by the official French administration directory.

A request to postpone a hearing, documents and observations in proceedings where a lawyer is not mandatory, supporting documents requested by the registry, a request for a copy of a judgment. Always quote the case number (RG) and the hearing date.
Before you send
A fax does not replace a procedural act that must take a specific form: a writ of summons, a notice of appeal, an application to be lodged with or sent to the registry in the prescribed way. Lawyers communicate with the court electronically. If in doubt, call the registry before sending.

Frequently asked questions
Can I bring a case before the judicial court by fax?
As a rule, no: proceedings are started by a writ of summons, an application or a declaration at the registry, in the forms set by the French Code of Civil Procedure. A fax is for exchanges with the registry once proceedings are under way.
How can I prove a fax reached the registry?
The transmission receipt shows the date, time, number dialled and number of pages received. Keep it with your document: it is the most direct proof of a fax being sent.
Where can I find the fax of a local court (tribunal de proximité)?
Local courts, attached to a judicial court, have their own category in the directory. Each department page also groups all the courts in that department.
