How do I dial an international number?

An international number has three parts: the exit prefix (00 in Europe, 011 in North America), the destination country code, then the national number. The national trunk prefix — the leading “0” in France, the United Kingdom or Germany — is dropped. Italy is the exception: its leading 0 is kept.
