Can I file a VAT return by fax?

No. Every business must file and pay VAT online, from its professional space or through an EDI partner. A fax is only for letters: a complaint, a reply to the office, supporting documents.

What should a fax to the SIE contain?

A cover page with the company name, SIREN number, subject and period concerned, then your dated and signed letter and the relevant documents. The office must be able to match the fax to your file without having to call you back.

Does the SIE reply by fax?

Rarely. The reply usually comes through the professional space messaging or by post: keep an eye on both after you send.
