What people send by fax

A letter to the registry about an application already lodged, a request for postponement or proof of absence from a hearing, a list and copies of exhibits, written submissions. Quote the case number (RG) and the section concerned.

Before you send

The application that brings the case is not sent by fax: it is handed in or sent to the registry — preferably by registered post — or filed online where the service is available. Check with the registry that it accepts faxes for the exchanges that follow.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring a claim before the employment tribunal by fax?

No. The application must be handed in or sent to the registry in the forms laid down by the French Labour Code, or filed online where possible. A fax is useful afterwards, for exchanges with the registry.

Should I send my exhibits to the registry or to the other side?

Exhibits must be disclosed to the other party, and the registry receives the list and the copies according to its own instructions. Follow the directions in your summons.

How long do I have to bring a claim?

It depends on the claim: generally twelve months after notification of a dismissal, two years for the performance of the contract, three years for unpaid wages. Have the deadline that applies to your situation confirmed.
