Numbers and routing
Premium-rate number
A premium-rate number costs more to call than an ordinary call, the extra paying for the service; in France, these numbers start with 081 to 089.
They are also called value-added services. The cost is made up of the call price plus a service charge set by the provider, which must be announced. Numbers from 0800 to 0805, by contrast, are free for the caller, and those from 0806 to 0809 cost the price of an ordinary call. Some four-digit short numbers follow the same rules.
Why it matters for fax
Special numbers are not designed to receive faxes, and their pricing makes the real cost of sending unpredictable. This site therefore does not accept them as a destination: only ordinary landline numbers, geographic or 09, are routed.
